If the available freight space is not fully utilized, this is referred to as a partial load in logistics. The abbreviation LTL is often used, which stands for "Less Than Truckload" and therefore refers to the partial load in the truck.
If a quantity of goods is collected from a consignor or shipper for transportation and transported to a recipient without transshipment, this is referred to as a full load. In contrast to partial loads, the means of transportation is fully utilized. The clear advantage of shipping goods as a full truck load is that it is generally the most efficient transportation option. The goods are transported directly from the place of loading to the recipient without additional handling.
